Getting started

My dears, we've reached a breaking point. I'm starting out on this new path with the goal of having more reliable ways of staying in touch, outside of the walls of social media. So, I hope you'll join me. If you sign up, I can offer:

• Updates about music and shows
• Updates about life
• Interesting links and other media that I find moving

Billionaire-controlled social media companies are harvesting our attention, offering us "connection" which is increasingly a stand-in for AI slop and engagement bait. Instagram is a virtually indespensible tool for creatives, mostly due to its massive user base. But at its core, Instagram is not our friend; it is a money machine for Meta shareholders.

I'm familiar with this process of leaving. Facebook used to take up an absurd amount of my time, but I deleted my account around 2019. I came of age on Tumblr before deleting my blog ("Fuck Yeah Cups") out of embarrassment. I found my job at Ableton through Twitter (RIP), but deleted my account the day it changed owners.

So, I'm reaching out in this new way. Will you join me on this journey?
